Dependencies in Todoist

You've created a Gantt chart of your Todoist project using Ganttify and visualized all the ongoing tasks and events.

One of the power features of a Gantt chart is the ability to set dependencies between tasks, so one due date automatically gets postponed or a predecessor is delayed. Managing all these tasks' due dates manually can quickly become tedious, especially when working with a team on larger projects.

In Ganttify, you can set dependencies between the time blocks and due dates of your Todoist tasks to ensure everything stays on track automatically. Here's a short instruction video about how this feature works:

Add dependencies to Todoist tasks

When you open up a Todoist project in Ganttify, you see the 'due dates' and 'time blocks' in your Gantt chart. Each of these rows represents a task from your project. With the dependencies feature, you can right-click each item and choose 'Add dependency' from the context menu.

Once you set up your dependencies, you can easily update your Todoist project schedule by dragging a time block or due date left or right in the Gantt chart. If a task gets delayed by moving it in Ganttify, the dependent tasks will automatically reschedule, and all the new dates will be directly synchronized to Todoist on all your devices.

Removing dependencies from Todoist tasks

You can easily do that if you need to remove a dependency. Like most things in Ganttify, all you have to do is use the right-mouse click. Right-click on the dependency line you wish to remove and left-click on "Remove dependency" from the context menu.

You have learned the basics of creating and removing dependencies in Ganttify for Todoist.

Viewing dependencies in Todoist

Since creating and editing dependencies is a feature Ganttify offers as a part of your Todoist projects' Gantt charts, the dependencies can not be seen inside of Todoist directly, only within the Gantt charts. When dependent tasks get delayed, and you wish to share updates with clients outside of your Todoist team, you can use published Gantt charts to share a live timeline of your projects.
