Planning a Basecamp project on a timeline? Your to-do lists, to-dos and schedule entries can all sit on one Gantt chart, on Basecamp 2 or the latest Basecamp.
Supported Basecamp versions
The Basecamp integration works with Basecamp 2, 3, 4 and 5. Basecamp 5 came out in May 2026. Basecamp hardly mentions version numbers any more: there are two products today, Basecamp 2 and Basecamp, which is always the latest version. If your account simply says Basecamp, you’re on the current version and your Gantt charts work with it.
Basecamp Classic is no longer supported. To plan those projects in a Gantt chart, move them to the current Basecamp first. Basecamp’s website explains how to upgrade your account.
Once you connect your Basecamp account, your Gantt charts keep up with every change your team makes in Basecamp. You never have to import or update your tasks by hand.
Moving from Basecamp 2 to the current Basecamp
One Basecamp login shows your Basecamp 2 and current Basecamp accounts side by side in your project list. A consultancy that keeps older client work in Basecamp 2 while new projects start in the current Basecamp can chart both.
When you move a project from Basecamp 2 to the current Basecamp, Basecamp treats it as a new project. Your existing Gantt chart doesn’t follow the move, and the settings you made in the chart, such as durations, hidden rows and dependencies, start fresh on the moved project.
- Before you move a project, note or screenshot the durations, hidden rows and dependencies you want to keep.
- Move the project in Basecamp.
- In your project list, open the moved project from your current Basecamp account, or add it to an existing chart.
- Set up your durations, hidden rows and dependencies again.
Visualizing your Basecamp projects
Each Basecamp project becomes one visual timeline. Your to-do lists appear as rows in the Gantt chart, with time blocks for deadlines and scheduled work, so you can see at a glance how tasks relate to one another and how the project is progressing. Cards from your Card Tables get rows too, and you can give each card a start and end date.
Not everyone who follows the project needs a Basecamp login. If your agency runs a website launch in Basecamp and the client only wants to know when it goes live, share a read-only Gantt chart with them: it stays up to date as your to-dos change in Basecamp. For presentations and reports, you can export the chart instead.
Getting started
- Connect your Basecamp account in Ganttify.
- In your project list, open the project you want to plan. Your to-do lists appear on the timeline and stay in sync with Basecamp.
